Over a year since FHO surgery
I wanted to update you on Suki's recovery since her FHO surgery. I has been over a year now. She is doing great as far as running and acting normal. The only issue I am having is that her fur on her back leg and stomach has not grown back at all. :( The fur on her hip where the scar is grew back with no problem. I don't know what to do. Is this normal? I can't find anything on the internet to help me.

Hi! I just wanted to thank you for posting this. My cat, Ewok, is having FHO surgery tomorrow and I'm scared to death. He's a Ragdoll with very long, fine fur and I am terrified it won't grow back. I can't imagine why your cat's fur hasn't all come in. Again, thanks for posting this. It gives me a bit of encouragement.
Dear Summer Jean:
Sorry - I may have had the wrong name... "Summer Jean". Look forward to hearing more about Ewok's recovery if you get a chance.

Hi Summer,
I found your blog through a Google search, and had a few questions for you since my cat is facing the FHO surgery as well.
I've asked the vet about the various medical concerns I have, but I was wondering if you had to take time off of work following the surgery to care for Suki? I'm particularly concerned b/c I'm a graduate student and also work full time... I want to make sure that my cat, Cosmo, is comfortable and ok following the surgery, but it will be very hard for me to miss too much work and school. How many days did you remain at home to care for Suki?
Thanks so much for posting this information, it's been very helpful!!
I was lucky that Suki's surgery was on a Friday morning. I had to drop her off and then pick her up on Saturday. Plus it was Memorial Day weekend so I had Monday off. That was the only time I took off. Otherwise, I work 8:30-5:30 M-F... After work, I spent all of my time with her for the 3 weeks she was locked in her kennel. I felt so bad she was in there so I would take her onto my screened in balcony and hold her while reading a book. I spent all weekends and nights doing this... The one night that my boyfriend felt neglected and wanted me to go out with him was the night I came home to find that she had gotten to her stitches. I rushed her to the ER and they stapled her and gave her a bigger cone for her head.
The first days are easy because they have a pain patch that makes them very drugged up. So she was very sleepy. The one sad thing she did was lay in her litter box cause she was not very coherent. :(
I hope all goes well with your cat.
Hey there! I am glad she is doing well, after seeing the few blogs I could find and the shaving I went and got my Max a heating pad, lol. It is cold here in Seattle and don't want my boy to get too cold. He is in surgery NOW and we get to bring him home after he is fully awake. I plan to blog since I have found so very little and want to know if you would give permission to link?
Yes, you can link to my blog. Thanks for comment! I hope your kitty does well. Good luck!
Here is Max, his journey has JUST begun. The more out here about our furballs who go through this, the better! http://kittymax.blogspot.com/
Thank you for your comment on Max. :) We have no clue how he did it, he does go outside, but he hadn't been outside for 24 hours...
The donation site is http://fundable.org good luck! :)
My furry friend Milo is having FHO surgery today - I am so glad I found you as I have been really scared about nursing him when he comes home tomorrow. Thank you so much for your blog - I hope it helps others as it has helped me.
Hi Valerie! I'm glad you found my blog helpful:). I send warm wishes to Milo for his surgery today. Take care!
